Specifics

MALDEF has always sought to support law students who seek to further MALDEF's mission of advancing the civil rights of the Latino community in the United States through the legal profession. In recent years, MALDEF has annually awarded 5-10 law school scholarships of $5,000 each to deserving law students from throughout the nation.

MALDEF's Law School Scholarship Program is open to all law students currently enrolled full time at an accredited United States law school. Applicants are evaluated for their academic and extracurricular achievements, for their background and financial need, and, most importantly, for their demonstrated commitment to advancing Latino civil rights in their careers.

Scholarships are awarded to students based on their commitment to serve the Latino community through law; their past achievement and potential for achievement; and their financial need.

**MALDEF also offers a Dream Act Student Activist Scholarship Program for college and graduate student leaders who have been outstanding advocates for the DREAM Act and all immigrant rights. This scholarship is unavailable for the 2014-2015 year, but check back to see whether funding is available for the next year.
