This scholarship program awards stipends of up to $7,500 per academic year to college bound or enrolled young cancer survivors in need of financial aid must be a cancer survivor diagnosed before the age of 18. The awards are to be used for tuition-related expenses, fees, books and required supplies at accredited 2 or 4 year undergraduate institutions of higher education located in California. Scholarship recipients are expected to demonstrate behavior consistent with the American Cancer Society\'s Volunteer and Staff Code of Ethics; are required to serve a minimum of twenty-five volunteer hours with the ACS; may be asked to communicate with CS donors and/or program administrators; and are expected to attend a scholarship awards reception sponsored by the California Division. Criteria used in evaluating scholarship applications are: financial need; determination, motivation and educational goals; academic requirements; and community service. Applicants awarded scholarships are eligible to reapply to the program up to four years from the initial academic award period. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
