Specifics: The purpose of the IMSF is to provide financial support for Iu Mien students in pursuit of higher education and to encourage Iu Mien youth to initiate leadership roles in the Iu Mien community. The scholarship aims to propel students to excel through ways that are not provided by conventional scholarship award.
ISMF offers seven scholarships (one $1,000 and six $500) will be awarded to graduating Iu Mien high school seniors, or graduating G.E.D. students, who can demonstrate financial needs, academic excellence, and leadership qualities. All students who feel they meet the criterias listed below are invited to apply.
Qualification and criteria:
(1) The applicant must be a graduating high school senior or G.E.D. graduate in California; (2) must be an Iu Mien American; (3) must plan to attend a university, state university, junior college or vocational school starting Fall 2003; (4) must have an academic record of 3.0 GPA or above, or G.E.D. score of 250 or higher; (5) and a completed application package containing a typed or printed application, high school transcript, essay (2 pages/500 words), and one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, mentor, or a community member.
